Welcome to Peer Coaching for Student Writers, where students learn to write from the inside, and educators learn to teach them how. Peer Coaching for students was developed and has been used in the field by educator, administrator, and now National Educational Consultant Susan Ruckdeschel for over 16 years. Similar to how adults communicate in their writing effort, the Peer Coaching process teaches students to review and edit their work by setting goals, identifying issues, listening intentionally, and giving feedback using specific communication protocols.

Susan's book, Peer Coaching for Adolescent Writers is now available at www.corwinpress.com .  Click the above link to enroll in the Peer Coaching Online Companion Course. See the Articles and Publicity tab for more about the book, and then go to the General Information tab to find out conference and training information.  In Blogs and Free Materials you'll be able to upload some materials to begin implementation, and get a sneak peek at the book while you're in there!  Book PreviewTable of ContentsIntroduction, Table of Reproducibles

Research attests to the results of student peer coaching.  What are those results? Effective editing and even more important, development of an internal voice for editing and reviewing one’s own work independently, especially when writing on demand. Students love peer coaching because it results in this independent success with writing across all genres, and all content areas. They also like the peer coaching roles they take as Writer, Responder, Editor, and Manager. No time to teach it? Watch for the online student companion course at www.studentpeercoaching.com/moodle
